Aberdeen has seen ‘significant development' over the past four years, according to a new report from the city council's chief executive. In his progress report to councillors, Douglas Paterson said: ‘In a number of key areas, foundations previously set have been built on to achieve significant development in the past four years.' He listed the Western Peripheral Route, the schools refurbishment 3Rs project and better management of council homes, among the successes. But he warned more must be done to tackle substance abuse and the gap between rich and poor in the city, and within the council, staff morale and motivation must be raised.
