Inverclyde Council is finally moving in the right direction, according to a new report from the Accounts Commission. Four years after a damning best value report found the council had ‘extensive and fundamental weaknesses in leadership and direction by elected members', the local authority has now been told it has made significant progress. Accounts Commission chairman, John Baillie, said: ‘Inverclyde Council has made significant progress in providing best value for local people. ‘It is pleasing to see the council now embracing the challenging agenda ahead with commitment and a renewed energy and enthusiasm.'
