Reputation – it's what you do that counts

For a number of years now local authorities have been obsessed with their reputations. Disappointed with poor coverage from the local media and low regard in local communities, they have invested heavily in public relations and communication staff.

For a time, when pummelled with vast amounts of information about the council, the standing of local authorities improved. Awareness, it seems, equals happiness, up to a point.
