People who live in deprived areas are less likely to volunteer than those who live in more prosperous places, according to a new report by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).

The report, entitled Participation, trends, facts and figures, found that 70% of people in prosperous areas volunteered, compared with 50% in the most deprived areas.
