Councils and local government union leaders have slammed government plans to force councils into recruiting care workers from inside the EU. Unison head of local government, Heather Wakefield, has called for an ‘urgent rethink' of the Home Office's migration advisory committee's new migration system, which outlines a list of shortage occupations for the UK.
