Residents of Wandsworth LBC have become the first households to purchase their home through enhanced discounts available under the government's revamped right-to-buy scheme.

Nasrullah and Fozia Khan, from Southfields, bought the two-bed council flat they have lived in since 2005 on 30 May. Councils must use the cash raised from sales to build new, affordable housing under the scheme, which is open to all council tenants who have lived in social housing for more than five years.
