Over the last few months, the simmering resentment and rage of some parts of our community have exploded into everyday life. The sight of pedestrian crossings and roundabouts being vandalised with the colours of the Cross of St George, the daily reports of casual racism and assaults on people because of who they are has been worrying and distressing.
It sometimes feels like the Government is being buffeted by the winds of change, rather than being in control of our collective future.
