Rise up to reimagine health

With so much funding locked into NHS provision, only bold reform in how care is delivered will unlock real change – and that means health and local government working side-by-side to develop new solutions, says Matthew Taylor.

Most local authority leaders are motivated to do more to prevent social harms, including reducing ill-health and mitigating its impact on citizens' life chances and quality.

Many fewer would feel fully competent or confident when it comes to changing models of care in the NHS. It is vital and urgent for local government to grasp that these two tasks are not only conceptually, but practically, interdependent.
