Sheffield City Council's executive director for neighbourhoods and community care, Joanne Roney, has been named as new chief executive at Wakefield MDC. Ms Roney has been at Sheffield since 1999, starting as executive director for housing and direct services. She replaces John Foster, who left Wakefield after five years to pursue new interests, and last month was appointed as new chief executive at Islington LBC. Corporate director, John Pitt, will continue to be interim head of paid service at Wakefield until Ms Roney takes up her new job later this summer. She is also on the board of Transform South Yorkshire, and was chair of the Chartered Institute of Housing police board from 2004 until 2006.
