Sacking leads to split in UK border operations

Operational responsibilty for immigration and border checks split on 1 March, with the creation of the Border Force.

Operational responsibility for immigration and border checks was formally split on 1 March, with the creation of the Border Force as a separate entity from the UK Border Agency (UKBA).

Chief constable Brian Moore, of Wiltshire Police, has been appointed interim head of the Home Office command, assuming control of immigration and customs posts.
