Scotland's first minister, Alex Salmond, has been criticised for his ‘cavalier' intervention into Aberdeenshire Council's decision to refuse planning permission for Donald Trump's golf resort. A report by the Scottish Parliament's local government and communities committee rejects claims the application to build a £1bn resort was an issue of national importance It said: ‘The first minister was cavalier in his actions and displayed, at best, exceptionally-poor judgement.' Aberdeenshire Council's chief executive, Alan Campbell, welcomed the report's verdict that the council had handled the application in an ‘appropriate and valid' way.
