Child protection services have been deemed 'inadequate' at Sandwell Council following an Oftsed inspection.
The watchdog has uncovered failings in overall effectiveness, help and protection for young people, quality of practice and leadership. The council had previously reported itself to the Department for Education and provided its own analysis at the beginning of the unannounced inspection in February.
