Recycling rates in Sandwell have risen by 41% to reach an all-time record high level of 1,700 tonnes a month since the metropolitan council began a 25-year, £250m contract with Serco.
Overall, recycling rates are expected to increase further with the amount of waste being set to landfill due to reduce to just 5% compared with 34% last year.
