Neil Schneider is to be the new chief executive of Stockton-on-Tees Council. Mr Schneider, 43, has worked for the council for 21 years in various roles, most recently as corporate director of development and neighbourhood services. He said: ‘I am delighted and honoured to accept this wonderful opportunity at such a high-performing council. My aim continues to be to deliver the best-possible opportunities and services for all our residents and businesses.' Mr Schneider joined Middlesbrough Council from college as a trainee housing officer, and later became one of the youngest fellows of the Chartered Institute of Housing. At Stockton, his posts have included chief housing officer, and director of housing and contract services. Married with a daughter and step-daughter, Mr Schneider is a keen sportsman. His appointment is subject to ratification by full council in January.
