Northamptonshire CC has dished up a £13.7m school meals contract to Cambridgeshire Catering Services (CCS), a council-run firm already serving over 200 schools in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Essex and Rutland.
The four-year deal starts in September and meals will be prepared and delivered from CCS' production centre in Huntingdon. In Cambridgeshire, uptake of school meals has risen from 31.5% to 40% in the last three years, with meal costs fixed at £2.00 for the last two years.
