The first two companies have been chosen as selected bidders on schemes to build new academies, under the Partnerships for Schools (PfS) National Framework. Kier Group plc has been chosen to build the Milton Keynes Academy, and Balfour Beatty Construction has been confirmed as selected bidder for Sunderland City Council's Building Schools for the Future scheme, which includes plans for three new academies. Milton Keynes Academy is due to open in September 2009, with the Sunderland academies expected to open between September next year and December 2009.
