Scots' agree to protect CTB funding cuts

More than 500,000 residents in Scotland will be protected from moves to localise council tax benefit(CTB).

More than 500,000 residents in Scotland will be protected from moves to localise council tax benefit (CTB) and enforce a 10% funding cut next year, following agreement between the Scottish Government and the country's local authorities.

Under the terms of the arrangement, the Scottish Government will provide £23m and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities a further £17m to ensure 558,000 people in Scotland currently getting CTB payments remain unaffected by the welfare moves – which take effect from April 2013.
