The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has called for charities to play a greater role in Scotland's future.
The group, which represents charities across the country, launched a manifesto for the 2011 Scottish Parliament elections last week, entitled How to do things differently which stated that the country's future depended on a thriving third sector.
