Scotland's main parties are feeding their electorate nothing more than ‘political junk food' and should avoid ‘gorging' on local services as they seek to implement cuts, a leading council figure warned this week.
Cllr Pat Watters, president of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA), launched a wide-ranging critique of the country's main political parties in advance of next month's national elections – warning the ‘uninspiring menu posed a threat to local government'.
