Local Government Association chair, Baroness Margaret Eaton, has urged central government to sign up to the same degree of scrutiny as councils.
Baroness Margaret has written to prime minister, David Cameron, warning voters would not understand why different transparency rules applied across public bodies. It follows suggestions council salaries of more than £100,000 should be approved by a full council vote, while officials earning more than £58,000 should have their names made public – requirements which do not apply to the NHS, for example
