Sea defences shored up Government funding for sea defences must be ‘drastically increased’, council leaders have said. At the LGA conference, the £75m annual budget for sea defences was described as ‘woefully inadequate’, and it was stated that tens of thousands of coastal homes were at risk in the coming decades if funding was not increased.
