The Government's funding boost for housebuilding has split the sector, with rural councils hitting out at ‘virtually all' the first tranche going to cities.

While others welcomed the first wave of the Government's £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme as a ‘positive step' there were warning it was ‘crucial' councils remained at the heart of delivery.
