Senior Manager (head of service level), Child Protection

Children’s Social Care in Cumbria is on an improvement journey.

Children’s Social Care in Cumbria is on an improvement journey.  As one of the largest Authorities in England by geographic size, as well as one of the most sparsely populated, we are well aware of the challenges we face in delivering excellent services – but we are determined to make fundamental changes to our approach in this key area.

As a result of a reconfiguration at 3rd tier, we are looking to appoint a new Senior Manager for Child Protection.  The role is at head of service level and reports to the Assistant Director for Children and Families.  Responsible for the delivery of child protection fieldwork services, court proceedings and the County triage service, the postholder will be fundamental to the Directorate’s future development and success.   We are therefore looking for candidates with a track record of achievement at this level, who can work within a complex environment and put the needs of vulnerable children first.  You will of course be a qualified social worker, and the bulk of your experience will be in child protection or safeguarding.  Candidates will need to demonstrate their ability to bring about service improvements, enforce strong performance management systems, and work well with partners and elected Members.

This is a great opportunity to be part of our ‘turn around’, so for more information please see
