Are you an experienced professionally qualified Planner who could drive forward the Council's wider energy market aspirations at the same time as leading on maximising the local economic benefits of the sector?

At the heart of Britain's Energy Coast, we are currently preparing for a new period of economic prosperity. With overall responsibility for the Planning and Building Control functions, you will be key in supporting Nuclear New Build and Grid Connection, the Managing Radioactive Waste Safely process, and Sellafield Decommissioning.

The role of the Nuclear sector in Copeland is unique. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and, the postholder will be given support and personal development to grow into and fulfil this role.

Planning Manager

£36 - £40k

The Planning Manager will lead the Development Management and Strategic Planning functions, ensuring the services are high performing, responsive and modern.

We have a range of planning challenges: nuclear and energy development pressures, coastal and rural communities, the Gem Town of Whitehaven; and coalfield communities, so life is never dull!

You will be involved in supporting a range of NSIPs as well as ensuring the delivery of the Local Development Framework. What we need is a talented professional who can re-shape the services, and ensure quality outcomes for Copeland.
