Public sector outsourcing firm, Serco, has launched a damage-limitation exercise after pressuring its suppliers with a demand to take a 2.5% cut.

The firm issued an emergency statement retracting the demand which was made in an attempt to meet contractual savings ordered by the Cabinet Office.
