There has been a flurry of chief executive changes across the country this week. Michael Frater is returning as interim chief executive at Surrey CC for up to six months. And Dave Smith is to take over as chief executive at Sunderland City Council. Before that he had been the council's deputy chief executive since 2005. Elsewhere, the chief executive of Worcester City Council, David Wareing, is to retire at the end of the month. He has spent 10 years at the helm and 23 years at the council. He said: ‘I am as interested in and stimulated by working in local government today as I was when I started 40 years ago.'
