Service Manager – Planning Regulation

Up to £60,598

Location: Oxford.

Planning expert required to ensure that every building project gets proper scrutiny.

It's responsible for all sorts of key areas from Transport to Planning Regulations, all of which have a crucial impact on the local landscape and our community. As Manager of our Planning Regulations service, you'll ensure that every new building project obeys strict rules, policies and procedures.

It's an opportunity to take overall responsibility for all our statutory planning functions. That means you'll represent the Council when it comes to approving changes to our highways, and monitoring planning applications. You'll also deal with all statutory planning matters that are related to our role of Minerals and Waste Planning Authority. Whatever the project or issue, you'll ensure we comply with policies, procedures and best practice.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent), you'll have plenty of experience when it comes to managing statutory planning services. You know all about waste planning and management, and you have a recognised planning-related professional qualification. On top of this, you have the project management skills to successfully deliver complex programmes of planning related casework.

A skilled leader and manager, you can lead change within the service and inspire teams to perform at their best. Strong interpersonal skills will be crucial, as will the determination to solve problems through co-operation and creative thinking. Committed and able to manage significant budgets, you'll be a valuable addition to our team.

As Manager of Economy & Skills service, you'll see that we have a healthy economic future on the horizon.

You'll be responsible for masterminding economic growth and enterprise within the county. It means planning, developing and directing our work, and encouraging sustainable growth – while upholding our policies and procedures. There will be a particular focus on supporting skills development and the work of the Oxfordshire Local Economic Partnership and Oxfordshire Skills Board.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent), you'll be well versed in the principles of economic development and the Skills agenda. You know all about schools and post-16 sector national policy framework. Plus, you have worked with business communities to gain the public sector's support for sustainable economic growth. On top of this, you have the project management skills to successfully deliver complex programmes of relevant work.

Service Manager – Planning & Transport Policy

Planning professional required to shape our transport infrastructure

Oxfordshire is an amazing county – and we're determined to keep it that way. That's why our Environment & Economy Directorate is so important. It's responsible for all sorts of key areas from Transport to Planning Regulations, all of which have a crucial impact on the local landscape and our community. As Manager of our Planning & Transport service, you'll have an important role to play in masterminding our approach to infrastructure within the county.

It's an opportunity to take overall responsibility for all our strategic policies regarding infrastructure planning: planning policy, transport planning, property asset management and the natural and historic environment. You'll ensure that our plans support sustainable economic development and shape investment priorities for Oxfordshire. You'll be working with national agencies and other partners on strategic planning issues – but whatever the project, you'll ensure we comply with policies, procedures and best practice.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent), you'll have plenty of experience when it comes to infrastructure planning and delivery. You know all about funding streams and mechanisms for infrastructure delivery in the public sector and regulated industries. Plus, you have the project management skills to successfully deliver complex programmes of infrastructure planning related work. A skilled leader and manager, you can lead change within the service and inspire teams to perform at their best. Strong interpersonal skills will be crucial, as will the determination to solve problems through co-operation and creative thinking.
