One of the country's longest-serving council workers retired on Christmas Eve, after emptying the dustbins in Hinckley and Bosworth BC for 52 years. Gordon Price, 75, had his dedication to his job recognised in 2007 when he was voted Council Worker of the Year, at the LGA Conference. Mr Price, who was presented with a widescreen, high-definition TV by workmates and colleagues, said: ‘I shall miss working at the council. I have worked with many different colleagues and made lots of friends while I was here. 'More than anything else, though, I will miss visiting my customers, who were always very friendly towards me.'
