Housing minister Grant Shapps has called for councils to be given a role in licensing mobile home sites, as part of a crackdown on rogue owners who harass and intimidate ‘park home' residents.

Last month, the communities and local government select committee heard how site owners have, in the past, blocked the sale of a park home on the open market, dramatically reducing the price so they can buy it themselves and then sell it on, at a profit.
