Shetland has suspended its single status pay offer for six months after it was rejected by GMB, Unison and Transport and General Workers Union leaders. Chief executive Morgan Goodlad has said that 75% of the 4,000 jobs evaluated in a new pay scheme would be paid at a higher hourly rate and just 25% at a lower rate but union leaders have said that it will leave some staff facing pay cuts of up to 45%. Union leaders at Falkirk Council have suspended plans for a three day strike following new talks on a single status pay agreement. Staff are unhappy that up to 10% will lose money when a four year pay protection scheme comes to an end.
