A European-wide campaign is needed showcase the best council communicators on the Continent, according to local government PR experts. The campaign, to be co-ordinated by the European Federation of Public Communication Association (FEACP), would outline a set of core actions that all European councils should take to improve their communication. Chairman of LG Communications, David Holdstock, has written to the chairman of the FEACP urging councils to ‘build strong and trusting relations between citizen and local government' with the aim of creating ‘European co-operation.' He said councils should follow the lead of Virgin, Chanel and Coca-Cola and aim to communicate their brand across the world to ensure people understood the role of national and European government.
