Top of the ‘sickies’ league table Local government workers claim the highest number of staff sick day rates in Britain, according to a new survey by BUPA Healthcare. The remarks were greeted with anger north of the border, with a spokesman for the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) criticising the survey. BUPA claims local government workers took an average of 11 days off sick a year, twice as many as staff in the hotel and leisure trade.
