Slough Council leader Richard Stokes has criticised costly Government delays in amending population statistics and expressed concern that recommendations made by the Statistics Commission four years ago have still not been introduced. The Office for National Statistics has said it has spent £2.6m making improvements to data but Cllr Stokes claims that Slough could lose up to £15m in grant because of inaccurate population figures and said: ‘It is not fair to penalise the people of Slough for the Government's inability to measure population properly.'
