Social value Bill passes second stage

Parliamentary Bill on government commissioners awarding contracts to businesses who deliver social value has second reading in the House of Lords.

A Parliamentary Bill encouraging government commissioners and procurement officers to award contracts to businesses which deliver social value has passed its second reading in the House of Lords.

Chris White MP, who has tabled the Public Services (Social Value) Bill as a private member said, if enacted, the measures would ‘send out a strong signal from Westminster that we want to support social enterprises and the ideals they aspire to'.
