Senior managers and chief executives in Wales have launched a policy document setting out their contribution to the debate on the future of public services. The Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers in Wales (SOLACE) published the document last week, setting out proposals for legislative and policy changes it seeks from the National Assembly for Wales. Main points include, recognising councils as being the best-placed bodies to deliver local services; resources are being wasted on bureaucracy; and, there should be a duty on public bodies to collaborate with councils in local strategic partnerships. 'With elections just under six months away, it is appropriate that we should set out our views on changes to the legislative framework that we encourage the assembly to consider,' said chair of SOLACE Wales Ian Miller.
