Kent CC is encouraging people to show solidarity against discrimination on 17 May by wearing something orange. The day is international day against homophobia, but the council says discrimination can affect people in other ways beyond obvious, such as abusive or offensive remarks. Cllr Roger Gough, cabinet member for corporate support services, hoped people would change their views as a result. He said: ‘We would all like to think we are not guilty of discrimination, but making judgments about a person and treating them differently can be very damaging.'
