House of Commons speaker, John Bercow, opened the 11th annual sitting of the UK Youth Parliament in Leeds, a gathering of 300 young people from across the country.

House of Commons speaker, John Bercow, opened the 11th annual sitting of the UK Youth Parliament in Leeds, a gathering of 300 young people from across the country.

Since Parliament was in recess, the UK Youth Parliament responded to the tragedy of those killed in the youth camp on Utoyea island, Norway, with two minutes silence, joined by children's minister, Tim Loughton, and the children's commissioner for England, Dr Maggie Atkinson.
