Hundreds of council employees in Northumberland are facing an uncertain future as councils prepare for the switch to one unitary authority. From April next year, Northumberland will be led by one authority rather than six district councils and a county council. For Tynedale DC's 300 employees, the changeover has been a cause for much concern. So far, only executive directors and directors have been recruited for the new council, with Tynedale's chief executive, Richard Robson, securing a post. But the council's other 299 employees are still waiting to hear if they will have a job next year. Northumberland CC is leading the reorganisation.
