Stafford BC has announced a new streamlined senior management team and the appointment of Ian Thompson as chief executive. Mr Thompson is currently an executive director at the council and will take over from top officer, David Rawlings, when he retires in May. Another executive director, Malcolm Vickers, has been appointed to the newly-created post of deputy chief executive. Their existing posts will not be filled, in order to streamline the senior team. The officers will also be employed with performance-based, fixed-term renewable contacts, which will end in May 2012. The move will enable the cabinet to set four-year corporate and financial targets. ‘This will allow us to secure for the next four years, Mr Thompson's very considerable planning and commercial development experience, which will help us achieve our prosperity and regeneration plans for the borough area,' said council leader, Judith Dalgarno. An announcement about the new chief executive at Lancashire CC is expected after a special council meeting on Thursday (28th February). And Janet Beaumont, chief executive of Local Government East Midlands, has announced she is leaving to seek new challenges.
