Standards framework given thumbs down

A new report has indicated an overwhelming majority of local authority monitoring officers are dissatisfied with the standards framework.

An overwhelming majority (85%) of local authority monitoring officers are dissatisfied with the new standards framework, a new report has indicated.

Research issued on 24 July by Teesside University Business School also reveals that 88% of respondents either ‘disagreed' or ‘strongly disagreed' that the new framework contains adequate sanctions for councillor misconduct and poor behaviour.
