More than 3,000 workers at North Lanarkshire Council have lodged appeals against single status upgrades. A council spokesman said the 3,000 represented around 20% of the 15,500 workers affected by the new deal, and the appeals process would start shortly. Neath Port Talbot CBC has completed the first phase of its compensation scheme. A total of £6.44m has been paid out. Union leaders at Dumfries and Galloway Council claim 1,000 workers will be worse off under the council's single status deal. A council spokesman said 67% of staff would gain under the deal, 17% would remain the same, and 16% would get pay protection for three years if the scheme went ahead.
