The past few months have brought a degree of uncertainty for councils across England. Discussions around local government reorganisation (LGR), changing structures and evolving governance arrangements have understandably dominated conversations in council offices, committee rooms and partner organisations. Yet uncertainty cannot become an excuse for inertia.
While the shape of local government may continue to evolve, the needs of our communities remain constant. Residents still expect high-quality services. Businesses still need support to invest and grow. Visitors still want vibrant places to live, work and enjoy. Our responsibility to deliver for them does not pause while structural decisions are made elsewhere.
