Some of the top-performing counties in England have seen their CPA scores slip in the latest round of league tables. Dorset, Essex, Hertfordshire ,Norfolk, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire CCs all dropped from four to three stars in 2007. Most were let down by a score of two on their children's services, apart from Dorset, which scored two for its adult services. Herefordshire, which will share its chief executive with the local PCT, dropped from three to two stars. It scored two for use of resources, children's and adults' services, and one for housing. Elsewhere, a two in corporate services let down Bournemouth Council, Bury MBC and Rochdale MBC. Bromley LBC also failed on its children's services. Liverpool City Council, which fell from a two-star authority to a one-star, scored just one in its use of resources. The results were good for some of the soon-to-be unitary counties. Durham CC, Northumberland CC, and Shropshire CC took four stars, while Cornwall CC and Wiltshire CC took three. Cheshire CC, which will split into two unitaries, was rated four-star and improving well.
