Stepping up to deliver inclusive growth

With 100 days to go until voters elect mayors in seven city regions, The Joseph Rowntree Foundation's new chief executive, Campbell Robb, says it is now the perfect opportunity to initiate the inclusive growth agenda.

Today marks the 100-day countdown until voters go to the polls in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, the West Midlands, Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Tees Valley, and the West of England to elect mayors for their city regions. It's a turning point in how large parts of the country are governed and offers a genuine opportunity to create a fairer, more prosperous economy for all. 

Where does that leave the rest of the country? Large parts have remained untouched by devolution and city leaders will know all too well the difficulties posed by austerity. But I firmly believe our town halls have a real opportunity to drive inclusive growth – where everyone benefits from economic growth, regardless of where they live.
