Surrey should be part of a strategic authority on a geography wider than the county, according to some sector figures.

The county council has been lobbying for two unitaries and a Surrey strategic authority, citing a lack of interest in a joint mayor from local authorities in Hampshire, Berkshire, Kent, East Sussex and West Sussex.
