Newham LBC has urged the coalition to link the planned high-speed rail link from Birmingham to Stratford International station.

Newham LBC has urged the coalition to link the planned high-speed rail link from Birmingham (HS2) to Stratford International station near the Olympic Park in east London, after MPs called for the switch.

The transport select committee suggested Stratford should become the destination for the trains in a report published last week. Newham's mayor, Sir Robin Wales, said: ‘More than £200m of public money has been spent on a station which currently has no international stops.
