Liberal Democrat councillors have accused the Government of ‘dragging its feet' over plans to hand councils powers to revitalise high streets, following retail expert Mary Portas' official review last year.

The Liberal Democrat group at the Local Government Association wants the Government to act now to give councils powers to break-up clusters of certain shop types in town centres, such as betting shops and late-night off-licences.
