First high streets to receive Portas cash revealed

Ministers have selected the first 12 towns to run 'Portas pilot' schemes, giving them a slice of a £1.2m government cash pot.

Ministers have selected the first 12 towns to run ‘Portas pilot' schemes, giving them a slice of a £1.2m government cash pot to help revitalise their high streets.

Each area will receive £100,000 and a tailored package of support from local government minister, Grant Shapps, and Mary Portas, the celebrity retail guru who helped design the initiative through her High street review for the Government.
