Staff at Cheshire West and Chester Council this week began strike action over cuts to their terms and conditions – described as ‘ideological' and opportunistic by senior union leaders.

The three-hour walkout by Unison, GMB and Unite members on 14 February brought 12 libraries to a close and is part of an ongoing ‘campaign' of industrial action, union leaders warned.
