Talks were due to be held yesterday (Wednesday) following last week's national strike over plans to change the local government pensions scheme. A Unison spokesman said regional strikes were planned for 25 and 27 April but no dates had been set for May. Scottish local government minister, ~Tom McCabe~ has denied he is preparing to back down in Scotland by obtaining an exemption from European law that it is English politicians who are citing the reason why the 85-year rule has to be scrapped.
